  About Us

Profibre was established in 1990 as a closed corporation with an initial focus on diverse industrial products. The company developed a competence to produce unique customised solutions for customers in very diverse industrial spheres, from mining and construction through to port services and petro-chemical plants.

In the late 1990’s Profibre started with its first small scale OE (original equipment) supplies into Bell Equipment in Richards Bay South Africa. This business grew as Bell equipment grew and with each change in model the product range expanded from bonnets to heat shielding, fan shrouds and special purpose covers.

As the focus on OE supply grew, Profibre realised the need to strategically focus the business on this volume market segment. The company expanded its OE focus by securing the MAN bus and coach contract in 2001, Putco busses in 2006, Tata busses and Echo 4x4 trailers in 2007.

With the demand for quality, on time delivery performance and cost efficiency expected by OEM’s, Profibre embarked on a process of introducing lean management principles into its operations in 2005 in order to entrench the philosophy of continuous improvement within its operations. In 1999 Profibre achieved the ISO9002 quality certification; this was upgraded to ISO9001 in May 2003 with the incorporation of design into the accreditation.

The company currently operates out of two sites one in Pinetown and the other in Queensmead industrial. The combined facilities amount to 10,000m2 with 5,000m2 under roof.
